Hello all, my family and I are heading to freeport next week and I would like to do some red/trout fishing while there. I typically only fish for bass and had a couple of questions .
first will the 15 pound fluro I typically use work ok, or do I need to upgrade?
Second what should I use for bait? From what I've seen top water and shrimp work. Great, any other suggestions?
Third, any locations worth checking out?
I'll be fishing from a kayak, so I can go just about everywhere. Thanks for the help everyone!

Sounds like you have it down. 2500 sized spinning reel of a normal baitcaster will get you most things. Get a popping cork and some live shrimp and tear them trout up@

Thanks for the input, we have fished the last 2 years without a single bite, hopefully we will get a little luckier this year.

what capt. andrew said, and i would spool up some 15 pound braid and 30 pound leader.it casts quite a bit farther.
