Went to rock creek to try for bait and after 2 hours of throwing all through the creek I had only caught about 1000 1 inch shad that had just hatched. Eventually found about 15 shad after too long of a time of throwing. Decided to call it a day at sundown and head for the house till the next morning. Launched out of the harbor at 6:30 and headed straight for points by the dam, anchored up And barely got the rod in the holder before a fish stole the bait!! Fishing in 30 Fow shad down 20-25 feet. Caught 8 fish over 8 pounds and it was a great time with a good buddy. Fishing is great at PK even though the water may have spread them out good. Ran out of bait in about 45 minutes so we loaded up and washed the boat! This Memorial Day will not be forgotten. flag banana

Did you drive your boat from rock creek to the damn? Now that the lake is close to full not as bad of a drive as when it was 15 feet low! still a nice little drive! You didnt try slabs or stump jumpers? Sounds like you did OK with live bait.

We took the boat off the water in between lol I don't have that much money for fuel!! I had to be somewhere so I figured leaving early would give me the extra time to give boat a quick scrub head out. Btw all fish were released safely after carefully after being caught

Randy: Looks like Conner has the same problem we had on our trip. Stripers were so aggressive you could not set the bait depth and put a balloon on before they stole the shad.

Glad he was able to catch a few. Sounded like a good trip.

Yep All Stars is on.
It's a grind for me. I love to watch Brady Pitch and I am going to the games. I hate the traveling and the waiting around.
Games on Sat and Suday in Glenrose so no lake for me.
I have not gotten to see our full lake yet!
I am blowing off work next week one day and going!

Connor: was the lake muddy while you were there? I'm at PK now and the lake looks like chocolate milk and the flood gates are open. Hwy 16 bridge is closed.

Connor is in school so he may not see this until later. My understanding is that it was not muddy at South dd and the dam. They opened 2-3 gates so that may have pulled the mud south

Headed down to the marina now. I'll take a pic. I hope you are right and it's just the slough.

I think someone put the "no fishing this year" curse on me. Every lake in driving distance is flooded.

May have to drag chartreuse colored LED lights through the water to get the fish to see something in this.
