Whistle, life jacket and if at night a 360 light. Flares im not sure a requirement. Make sure to bring old wine corks and put them on your hook till you drop bait. Drop hook first and weight last. I saw a pic from last year of a guy who had a 20/0 circle hook in his neck from turtling in the surf zone. Carefull.

202 is worth the watch also. U need to prep for the worst. I have vhf radio, flares, a small signal mirror n a few very sharp knifes and cutters on me/ on board always. My yak is otherwise stripped down When runnin shark baits. I secure the weight and hook to my yak and hide my hook/hooks like christian. I ALWAYS WEAR VEST NO MATTER THE CONDITIONS! I practice releasing my long leader till its fast N Natural. It does tangle sometimes so I keep my hands moving quickly and my attention totally focused. once ive dropped weight n bait Ill blow my whistle and waive my paddle high, which means Im ready for someone that I trust to reel line tight. When I get back to beach Ill work my line tight some more and double check bait clicker n drag setting. A QUICK safe drop In the sweet spot is my goal.
