Need some advice, tips, suggestions, etc. I've been out there once but never fished out there. I know they've got stripers; and apparently pretty good ones, too, if you can find them. Will be in boat and looking for sandies/hybrids/stripers. We're going to be camping at the state park. And from looking at the map of that lake, it winds up and down and left and right like a lengthy river so if I need to fish in a different part of the lake, I can trailer over and re-launch the boat if necessary.

Back when I was a kid before the golden algae kill, we almost always found sandbagsschooling on the west side of the lake in between the state park and cedar creek. And always lots of crappie in Cedar creek

If you're looking for striper look south of Broadway in clearer water.

Right now as I look out at Neely Slough all the water is muddy. The main lake may not be and I'll check later today. The rain yesterday was the hardest I have ever seen in my life. I've never seen it rain that hard and I was camping when the remains of Hurricane Camile came over us back in 1969. Not sure the lake will clear by then.

From everything I've been reading, seems like the southern end of the lake (which I assume is also the deepest?) is best for finding schools of fish. I have an HDS 7 with side imaging so I will be on the search for humps and ridges. And I'll be paying attention to the water depth where fish are biting.

I'm really looking forward to the trip because I got the boat fixed and haven't been out on a good trip in far too long. I'm really hoping for some calmer, sunny weather leading up to that weekend so the water won't be so stained/muddy and maybe the fish might get back to a regular feeding schedule.

Might I suggest catfish. It will still be a mudhole.

Sandjonny is right. Is was clearing a little yesterday then we got 10 hours of solid rain and it's worse than ever now.

Look out for floating timber and trees. They are removing a big one that floated into the cliffs marina today. Better go slow.

You still have two weeks for it to clear some. It has to stop raining first.

I'll second that. Connor will be able to catch those Shad bright and early and without them you'll struggle. The lures that produced for me in the past have not worked in PK's murky water this year. Plus, you'll need a shad tank or they will just die.

It looks like the red river. I drove from state park to the dam and it was muddy all the way. It's a little less muddy at the damn.

Ouch, that's not good. I will stick to fishing closer to the dam.

Can someone confirm this: I just opened the TPWD yearly regulation book and for PK, you are allowed to keep only 5 (FIVE!) bass of any kind for the day?!?!?!
