Just bought a used 2011 Ranger 522 with Minnkota Talons. Had to lower them 8 inches to get in my garage. The bottom is about even with the bottom of the jack plate.

Other than maybe hitting stumps etc... am I going to be okay?

May impact your hole shot that way. Might consider tilt brackets

NO,performance will suffer. Buy the tilt brackets.
