Can you use a chicken rig in the surf with 5 hooks on it?

Are you asking whether it's legal, or whether it's physically feasible?

Oh, it's legal to use five hooks (or more) in saltwater. Here's the link for Texas fishing regulations: https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/

I hope you're using premium gear because in the event you catch more than one bull red, it's going to get tested to the max. Have you ever caught a bull red? One 40 incher will give you a ride. I couldn't imagine two or more on at one time and each deciding it needs to go a different direction than the other. Keep us updated.

This is amazing! I can hook leaders in a chain one after the other and can have 20 hooks all baited with shrimp to go after croakers? I see a fish fry for my family!

Used to use sabiki rigs tipped with fish bites or shrimp for whiting.
Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

"This is amazing! I can hook leaders in a chain one after the other and can have 20 hooks all baited with shrimp to go after croakers? laugh I see a fish fry for my family!" I did this with a noodle as a float and let the current of the 2nd gut (about 5 feet deep) carry it parallel to the beach. Caught a bunch of hardheads and that is about it. Only used 12 hooks though. had a heavy weight on the bottom with the float closest to the pole with 12 hooks in between.
