why does my Terrova shut off intermittingly when I try to run it on a a speed above "4".
If I put it on 5 or 6 it will run then shut off, it resets itself then I can run some more but if it is above 4 it shuts off.
???????
Batteries are at 3/4 charge.

You have breakers on the battery? What amp are they? Also how old? Breakers will get weaker over time so could be breaker too.

Not an issue with the size of the cable or the size of the breaker.
The TM is 9 months old and just started doing this.
could be breaker or fuses, I will check them out.

Replaced one fuse yesterday and it worked fine for one day, but started the issue again this morning

Its interesting you said that Doug, my buddy Don The Angler had the same issue as Nutman with his Terrova and it turned out to be a bad breaker. He replaced the breaker and it now works like a champ.

+1 on the breaker. I have had a 101 thrust for 3 yrs and had trouble with it in the same manner as you did, I found the breaker installed was a 20a 12v!! I replaced it with the correct Minn Kota breaker and it runs better than it ever has. No problems at all. Now if I could find my short on the sonar all will be done.

should have a breaker near the battery on the cable running to the trolling motor. I've never had a boat with one but I put one in on my terrova.

Had a similar problem, it turned out to be the breaker. The breaker is on the hot lead of the battery cable going to your trolling motor. It mounts between the batter post and the cable. I think it should be a 50 amp breaker?

Breakers trip and stay tripped until someone resets it. The poster has an intermittent problem. Sounds like there is a thermal overload protection that will open on hi temp and close when it cools off

Your right about a breaker staying tripped until the button is pushed to reset. My had a cracked casing. They are a plastic housing. It took a while to figure out.
