Well, fished Fork yesterday and got totally skunked. Not even one fish in the boat! I had one little bass blow up on a frog and that was the sum total of the action. Now, before I go on, I will say that I feel blessed that I got to go out on the water, had nice cool weather, boat ran fine, got to hang out with two great friends, wasn't at work, spent time in the outdoors, and so on..... That being said, Fork just kills me sometimes! I guess that's why it's fishin' and not catchin!

I fished the extreme shallow back ends of several coves way up in the flooded grass and vegetation and didn't catch squat! I fished up and down these coves around Birch Creek and over by Axton's and nothing. I threw frogs, weightless Brushhogs, weightless plastic shad, lizards, square bills, spinners, chatters, and jerk baits. I talked to a few other fisherman and the consensus seemed to be that it was tough fishin. Also, it seemed like most of the tourney fisherman were at the south end of the lake.

Anyone else have a slow day? Are they just too scattered? Are they concentrated in the cleaner water on the south end of the lake?

There are plenty of fish in the areas that you fished. Fork is just that way for me as well. Can't get a consistent pattern going, it changes daily and sometimes hourly.
They were biting for some yesterday, just check the TTBC leaderboard.

If the gates are open the fish pull back . I usually get out past 10 foot if they are pulling water.

This time of year you should be structure fishing. The bigger bass are not going to be in the backs of creeks and pockets. Most will be away from the bank.

The majority of the bigger fish will be on structure away from the bank. And when the water reaches 85 degree's 95% of the big fish will be on offshore structure regardless of the offshore structures depth.

Just like fishing/punching a shallow grass bed in the summer. Most of the bigger fish will be on the structure change underneath.

She can be pretty fickle. I fished a few times last September, and got 1 fish. She can be real tough. You just have to bear down and figure it out, and it doesn't always happen that day, sometimes it take multiple trips to start to figure em out.

Any time they are pulling water the shallow bite shuts down. Happens every time.

Your choice of places to fish and baits definitely made it a [censored] shoot. You were probably the 500th person to throw a frog in those areas in the last two weeks.
