I think we should worry about it getting to full pool first before we worry about them closing the lake. roflmao

here in Oklahoma the law enforcement doesn't concern itself with closing ramps when they're flooded because common sense kicks in when someone plans to launch on a ramp they can't see due to water being 2 ft higher than the ramp and you can't even get to the ramp because of flood water. Does texas police actually close ramps because of flooding? When ramps are flooded around here we just use country roads to launch our boats. Done that many times ...just found a gravel road steep enough to launch the boat and did so.

The closures depend on the body of water and who manages and or who manages the boat ramps. Closures can be an entire lake closure by the COE or water board that manages it or simply cities that own and manage boat ramps closing the ramps to protect themselves from liability.

How quickly the lakes get closed depends highly on how developed they are. Lakes that are developed (typically not COE lakes) with houses and docks get shut down quickly when the water goes above pool to minimize damages to boat docks and houses.

Add the DFW metromess into the mix and it being a lake with heavy recreational traffic and it gets shut down quickly because there's so many reckless boaters.

Appreciate the response TxCatfishGuide. Our family fishes Twok once/yr and we're just planning for any contingencies. When I initiated the thread, Twok was approx -1.30 so I asked for info from you folks since you're more knowledgeable regarding your area lakes. We're in the Tx Hill Country thus the laws do vary.

Tawakoni is at the perfect level right now and we get a couple of days of spilling and it can handle a little more rain.
