I'm wanting to get into making rods for myself and family and I don't have a clue what is a good brand of rod kits and what kind of accessories are needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

+1 on Mudhole. Great stuff, great customer service. I recommend you start out simple with one of their all-in-one kits. Crawl before you walk with something like this. But it is a great hobby and as soon as you build one you want to build another. Also extremely gratifying when you catch that first fish on a rod you built.
