Tried all along I30 and by Chandlers and along 66 I guess with the cold front they shut off for a day or so because we could only get three channels. We were using cut shad under a bobber but couldnt get them to cooperate.

They were in thick last year by this time with limits every day. This year has been sporadic, some days they bite, other days are goose eggs, part of me thinks it's due to how fast the lake came up.

I got skunked the past two days. Thursday around the rail bridge and yesterday from the I 30 rocks back to John Paul Jones Park. Fished both rip rap and the weed lines. I couldn't draw them in with cattle cubes.
Either they are busy making babies, or the colder weather has shut them down.

also ran into a problem with a bunch of small tree limbs in the water close to the banks and weeds so its tough fishing for them. Hopefully when the rain stops and it warms up again they will turn back on.

Looks like we are headed back into the 70s and 80s with mid 80s by the middle of next week after all the rain.

Fished the rocks at Hubbard this morning for 2 hours. Had 5 bites and caught 3 of them. 2 were 15" and one small one. Not what I am use to seeing at Hubbard at all. Of course I usually don't start fishing for them till June either.

I don't think May cold fronts have much impact. I don't think the channels have started spawning yet. I would try the shallow weedlines.

They were biting in the rocks for me last week. I spent some time in the shallow weed lines as well. It'a been productive in both kinds of areas, so that's why it's so weird. Hopefully, I'll get back to catching them by Memorial Day.

I guess the fish on Eagle Mountain didn't watch the weather because I couldn't keep rods in the water yesterday.

You should probably be focusing more on presentation or location as opposed to temperature. These week late spring cold fronts do not change the water temperature much.
The other thing...don't get hung up on on punch bait flavors. If your usual one don't work try some shad.

Well that's the thing. Location is what we are really talking about. They might have been biting just fine somewhere else. Set out to find them shallow in the rocks like they've been recently, and they weren't there or weren't biting. If you don't have time for a plan b, you go home with a bad day. So why'd they move or quit biting there? I don't know. They've been biting good. Seems to be multiple reports of the same thing though. I'm going to try to turn it around tomorrow afternoon.
