Sure am...making a finished bait from a chunk of wood seems like a pretty interesting challenge. It would be interesting to see how a blank is created and how the weights and hook hangers are positioned...etc. Also, what the process for undercoating, painting and clearing is for wooden baits. Gotta' be lots of stuff you have learned about the process and could share thumb

I use balsa I use a bandsaw or router to shape the body then sand it to its final shape. I seal it 3 times in 2 hours sanding between each layer. then apply a clear coat then paint my first layer then clear coat again then after every coat of paint I apply another layer of clear and let dry until I apply 3 layers of topcoat. Now the weight is put in after the first seal coat is done. The lip and rear hook hanger and line tie are the last things to go in the bait the two more topcoat layers are applied. Then after a week of drying the bait is ready to use. So after all is completed the bait has been in build for 3 weeks.

Thinkin' where you put the weight determines a lot of the baits action. I'm guessing its a brass or lead cylinder of some kind and its inserted into a hole drilled a little larger than the weight itself....not sure how its glued in or sealed?? Lots of questions about materials used in making wooden baits. Found a few video tutorials about working with the wood but not much on the glues and materials use to finish the bait. Lots of craftmanship involved in the process..... Great work jwflipper thumb
