Looking to revamp my rod line up in the coming months. Hoping to keep the rods around $200 each or less. I know there are some great new rod lines out there and looking for some feedback from those who have used them. Is there a rod line up at this price point I am not considering?

Look at Daiwa Tatula line. I have Daiwa Light & Tough, Team Daiwa, Steez, and Tatula. Probably 20 rods over the years and they have served me great. I'm just partial to the grip Daiwa puts on. It's so comfortable. The light weight and sensetivity suits my style. I have G Loomis and other top brands that I like, but a a whole line I choose Daiwa. I've paid $100 fro the Light & Tough and $500 for the Steez. I just choose each according to my intended use. Everybody has a different idea of feel. I just like the strong backbone and fast tip action in addition to the grip. All the Daiwa Tatula Rods are around $149 to $169.

KLX is the best 200.00 rod line up imo.
The expensive loomis are the stuff, but the cheaper ones suck IMO

You might take a look at the Falcon low riders and Bucoo's, good rods for the money.

Like Ranger Ram was talking about is the Daiwa Tatula rods and Halo rods are in your price range and you might want to do some research on these rod and you can research these on wired 2 fish and these are great rods that will not break you. Larry

In the price range you are looking I don't think there are any "bad" rods. You can pretty much pick a brand and be happy with your choice. I would definitely look into buying the best I could find in heavy fishing techniques (Power Tackle is my choice). More than worth the extra money for one or two rods but there are others in your range that will work just as good too. I personally use mostly Falcon and have no issues with them.

I have 2 phenix recon 2's. One is a 7'6 heavy that is a beast, strongest most back bone in a flipping rod i've ever seen. And I have an NRX 895 and a KLX x-hvy stump grinder to compare them too. It is slightly heavier and less sensitive than those two however, fpr punching grass its the go to for me. On the other hand i have a recon 2 7'1 mh,f it is the most sensitive rod i own, even compared to my helium 3 in the same size and power. Unfortunately the rod has 0 backbone. I have lost countless big fish with it because of bad hook set due to no power. I would not recommend a 7'1"mh f recon for a worm rod, it is great for wacky though....

Get yourself an UGLY STIK & take the rest of that money and buy your little boy something. You'll get a greater joy in doing that. Then when you land a fish with the Ugly Stik you will always think of your son.

I've used Falcon, Dobyns, Kistler, Daiwa, and others and for the price range you're looking at, I'm an "other" for TFO rods particularly the Gary Loomis Tactical Series Bass Rods. The rods are GREAT and the guides are FANTASTIC!!! "GTS rods are topped with TFOs proprietary Tactical Series guides, machined stainless steel inserts are super-hard chrome anodized then swaged into a chromium-impregnated stainless frame. What does this all mean? Super hard, super slick, saltwater safe and no more lost fishing time due to lost inserts...and theyre 30% lighter than standard SiC guides." I have been going to this line only for a while now. I have some signature and some tactical, about 8 or 10 so far and still adding. Try one and you'll be hooked and so will all your fish! I'm sure the G. Loomis line of rods are great, and there are some for around $200, but I've never tried one and I'm very happy with TFO!

daiwa tatula line is amazing...... the spinning rods balance (with a reel) perfectly on one figure with no effort, end of the day, for me this saves my arms. nothing worse then to put a week in of hard pre-fishing for a tournament 12-14 hour days. to have it hurt to do a hook set on tournament day. Do remember shimano has changed there warranty policy do a huge amount of claims being made the last few years.
I fish, ontario and ny during summer. make trips to fl, And Texas during winter. My website is Ontariobasstournaments.com

it's like buying a Ford or Chevy, Both are great products. The higher end rods are probably all great rods. What every fits in your hands best.
Thanks,
