My best plastic has been the V&M Swamp Hog Jr. I'm sure other colors and styles will get the job done, but this one has been my go to bait. Find some fish and they will eat that dude up.

There is a Citgo station in Buna (or Kirbyville...I don't remember which), that has non ethanol.

My bad... It is Conoco, not Citgo. There are two in Buna, and one in Kirbyville.

It was super tough out there today. The morning was unusually cool to begin with. And of course the weather man lied about the wind speed. I caught two fish fairly early on c rig that told me nothing as they were in totally opposite places. One was toward the back of a creek in 4 foot of water and the other was off a main lake point in about 24 foot. I didn't get another bite until after 2 o clock. I caught a few small fish on football head jig around Mcgee flats. Fished around hausen a little while with nothing to show for it. Decided to hit 6 mile before it got too late and finally got a few solid bites. I started flipping pads at about 5:30 and caught five keepers before heading back to the ramp around 6:30. All on watermelon red z hawg. Four of them were around two pounds and the biggest was 3-12. Also had two blow up on a frog but both missed it and wouldn't come back to play. It was a tough day but that just made the ending that much sweeter. Now I'm sitting at home in pain. I guess it stayed cloudy so long that I never realized the sun had broken through, I have by far the worst sunburn Ive ever had. Again guys I really appreciate the info you guys were willing to give me. If anyone's heading up there anytime soon just pm me and I'll help if I can.

Tough fishing today on Toledo Bend; I guess I should have been here last week.
A couple of real small fish in Patroon. Found some grass out on the main lake point I'll try this evening.
If anyone has any suggestions for around the Chicjen Coop area, please chime in.

Sunburns are worse on cloudy days than they are on sunny days just remember that.

I found a small school chasing baby white bass. Put 25 in the boat in about 35 casts. It was pretty cool. Caught 4 more Carolina rigging in the same spot 20' deep point and another off some brush in 4-6'. All in about 3 hours

OK;
This is Sunday of Memorial Day weekend .... Right ?
I am sitting on Toledo Bend, The Chicken Coop area, and have not seen another boat all morning.
They way folks talked I thought there would be boats all over this lake.

They're definitely there my friend. I got my boat out of the water just in time to watch four ski boats and ten jet skis pull up to the ramp. And then on my way home, every other vehicle I would pass was a truck pulling a boat or jet ski. They're there, sleeping off last night's hangover

We caught a few, fished the steep bluffs near Chicken Coop
Stayed out of the wind and 3 foot swells
Son will try the grass beds later in the week when the winds calm
I'll be back next weekend
Between Saturday & this morning we caught 30 or so.
First time ever on TB. Have to find more/better fish but it was all good

big girls are there for sure but hard finding them right now. They should be done with their journey back out to the deeper water soon. Hoping to catch a few next weekend in my company tourny on TB
