I recently bought a HDS7 Gen 2 Touch with structure scan. I can't believe how big the transducer is.

I posted this question in bass fishing section and am still looking for some answers on installation.

I have an 89 champion 184 with no jack plate. The transom has no "step".

If I install this transducer on the back of the transom, what are the odds that it stays on for very long when fishing Fork 99% of the time?

Can the transducer be mounted to the bottom of the hull?

I have spent the past 50 years spitting in their mouths...increasing the size of Texas fish with every spit!

Relocate the transducer to trolling motor.

Having the transducer at the TM does me no good when using it on a graph at the console.

On another note, I talked to Lowrance customer support today and they basically said that with that age of boat that the LSS2 type transducer wouldn't be a good fit. So all you guys with older boats who are saving your money for this type of equipment, don't waste your money. Or you could just mount the equipment and keep replacing it at over $300 a pop.

I am really disappointed.

Consider transducer shield and savers bracket

Also, mount the LSS2 higher than you would a 2d transducer.
