Late making a report, and it's gotta be quick.

Headed out to Lavon last Saturday to take another crack at the sandbass. So far this year I've gotten one fish on three trips, so I was hoping to get into a few.

The lake is like an entirely different lake right now!

East Fork ramp has just enough room for the truck to actually be on the ramp. It's pretty awesome seeing water in the lake after the last three years...

Spent about four hours on the water, and it was a great day to be out. Checked most of the usual spots, but just wasn't marking any numbers of fish. Around the island and Hybrid Point were pretty empty. Marked some fish around the mid-lake hump but never could get a bite.

Caught two doubles on silver slab and a black grub on a school over by the train track riprap just north of Lavonia. The school was moving around like crazy and I couldn't keep on them, but they were big active fish. One was probably the largest sandbass I've ever caught out of Lavon.

Kept trying to find that school for a bit then just trolled a bit around Lavonia. That old road/creek bed produced another three fish one silver rattle trap and crankbait, and we called it a day. On the way back in checked a few areas around the damn and there was nada. Had my radio on channel 78 as always but didn't hear any chatter.

Overall was my best trip of the year. Still need some practice with the electronics and working out what the hell is going on with the new water. Hopefully will get some more time on the water after Memorial Day craziness and can get 'em figured out a bit.
