Lake texoma is getting close to 100% full. I hope they get another 6 to 8 inch or rain on the watershed with no tornadoes and no hail. It is striper time :-) this rain has been so amazing it is really good to see some water in lakes finally keep praying for rain!!!!

I'm about 10 miles from Rock Creek and I sure wish the rain would go away awhile. The ground has not been dry around here since early February. If you work outdoors for a living you are going broke. After 20 years [will be in May] I might have to sell out. Sure as heck don't want to but after missing weeks in Oct and Nov because of my heart attach and now for the last couple of months only getting to work a couple days a week because of this rain I might have to. I picked up a application and am just praying I do not have to turn it in but it is really looking like I will be filling out and turning in more before long.

Yeah really sorry to hear that. It has been a long time since we've had this much rain back to back. My brother has been suffering loss of work to as they use heavy equipment digging and they can't get any of their equipment into work. Hope your area dries out some for you.

Just saw a news story today about how high lake texoma is and it made me think of this thread. Is it striper time yet? And if so, can I catch them from the bank?

You know I am really glad that all the people that thought I was crazy might see this lol. This is only the fourth time that it has happened. It may take a little while to clear up the last time it happened in 2007 people thought I disappear or died haha. Yes extremely good from the bank and yes extremely good with the flyrod. You need at least an eight weight with a good drag. All the hybrids I have caught the last few years have completely shredded the drag on my eight weight it is at the top of priority right now. It is a very weird situation though because if your feet are touching the water on the Texas side you need an Oklahoma license as the own the power agreement for the first bit of river. Hey moon we need to get together up there I'll be on it for some time now. I am very anxious to see the difference in size structure of the fish now that they moved to the limit up on the lake. I am headed up Wednesday for an all day affair I will let you know how it goes. I know it is still going to be a little muddy but Fish got to eat lol. I have to add that that is the only rocks that are as slick as Brokenbow I have seen buddies drowned a few phones there and there was nothing they could do they were just sliding in and could not stop. I hope the gate have to stay open into mid June when the top water bite by the damn starts there will be a lot more fish than now when a lot of them are still up river to spawn.

Posted on the Bank Fishing section but may be useful to others here.... Here is the post from our weblog from back in 2008 that shows how to read the real time release table. March 6, 2008
Interesting is that it shows 5,200 CFS to 11,075 CFS between 1600 and 1815 on 06MARCH2008.
A look at 2145 19MAY2015 shows 9,000 CFS.
May be seeing some pictures from other TFF Members in the near future!

Only problem is the fish coming thru the hydropower site are in pieces. I'm sure they will open more now but as of 9:00 am they had two gates open 3.5 feet plus both turbines running. Hope they get all gates open ten feet or so lol. They only have two units up there and they can only pump 10,400 cfs two gates open@3.5 ft. an additional 3850 cfs. They open all 6 conduit gates 3 1/2 to 5 feet will be some good fishing for a bit.

Robert, I'm not referring to the generators. They opened one of the flood gates yesterday. The local news showed it last night.

Well, I had to fill out that application (first one since 1986) and went to work for the city golf course. It's going to take some getting used to and I have just kind of been in a funk so I haven't been posting much. I still visit the site a couple times a day though. Hope your better half is getting better.

Everybody put your striper face on. And remember there are no fish on the Oklahoma side of the Denison Dam! None, whatsoever. Absolutely.
