Just curious what is the minimum you carry when going to your local pond/water?

Me: nippers, pliers/forceps, small fly box, some extra tippet. Of course I have a fly rod and reel.

I am working to get my quick trip stuff down to a minimum but also don't want to forget something important.

Also working on an idea to make keeping it all together and ready to go.

Looking to hear your ideas - and remember this is for a short spur of the moment type trip (stuff you might keep in your truck ready to go fishing anytime!)

Just the same + sun hat and poloroid glasses.

Add a couple pieces of cold fried chicken for lunch and you have it covered.

edited to add: OK, you might not want to keep fried chicken in your truck for any length of time!

You don't even want to know lol. Three years ago my buddy and I went on half day teal/dove/bass/crappie day. We looked like we were going to be gone for a month. Of course we had guns deks rods flat bottom boat. At other times I have one rod and a few flys in the hat. The walk back when you loose the last fly and realize you made it two miles up stream is a long walk haha. So for me just depends on the situation.

The same plus a pair of reading glasses. I wear a vest with everything I need in it.

On occasion, I carry 2 fly rods, one rigged with topwater and the other a subsurface fly. Or I'll carry a conventional pole with a single lure or a pocket full of plastics.

Same stuff plus sunglasses with built in magnifying lenses, kind of like bi-focals. And all of this is hooked to a neck lanyard with retractors for easy use. I just put the lanyard on, put on my sunglasses and hat, and go fishing.

I keep everything in a small backpack. 4 reels, my shoulder bag for my flies and leaders, a lanyard with all of my "stuff", including tippet, all of my extra fly boxes. In a front pocket are sunscreen and bug repellent. All I have to grab is the backpack and whichever rod(s) I'm taking with me.
Most of the time my lifejacket is wrapped around the backpack, so I don't forget it if I'm bringing my kayak.
When I get to the water, if I'm not paddling, I grab the lanyard and shoulder bag, string up my rod of choice and away I go. If I'm paddling, I put the lanyard over my PFD and throw the shoulder bag behind the seat. The backpack gets stuffed behind that in the tie downs.
I always have my hat on, and my glasses are photochromic, so I have that covered all the time.
I've modified the lanyard a bit since I took this pic, but this is still pretty close:

This is ONE of the things I love about fly fishing - it can be very minimalistic. About every other style of fishing requires lugging immense quantities of stuff around.
