This makes the third week in a row that my day off falls on a monsoon, so the kayak stays in the garage. I don't get along well with heavy rains and rivers anymore. grin I can't/won't complain about the rain, it's too precious to this parched land. We had a reservoir that had gone dry a few years ago, and after Monday nights 12 hour downpour, it's near half full capacity as of this morning. thumb It was a great kayaking lake. Last time we could get a yak on it was 2008.
But with that amount of rain all at once, comes the inevitable flooding. We had lots of stranded cars in town, but no serious injuries or problems.
I have made it a point to get out with my camera gear around the area if I can't get out in the yak. So last week was a relaxing look at the South Concho. This week is a look at the North and Middle Concho when mother nature gets riled up. We had a great time shooting Tuesday, and watching our lakes fill up.

Here's a short video from yesterday.

That's another great video!! The music you paired with it was great, and I really liked how the title at the beginning "flowed" into the center!

Great way to spend a day off

Great video! There's alot of water there.

We kayaked about 4 miles of the Lower Mountain Fork last May when they were letting out 8000 cfs at the generators. We were south of hwy 70, but the flow looked like the flow in your video. We put in at a wide spot and it looked manageable, but as soon as we rounded the first bend, the river got much narrower and things got very hectic. It was pretty unnerving most of the way, and I definitely wouldn't do it again.

Wow even White River Reservoir is now 30%!! All the oldtimers told me it used to be one hell of a fishery before the 10+ year drought.

Wheeeeeeee!! Even Lake Medina came up 17 feet! But, it's still 70 feet below pool level! Any water is greatly appreciated down there.
