I am new to football jigs. I am however, Going to focus on throwing some of them this summer. I do have a couple questions though. When do you chose to throw them? Why would you pick one over C-Rig? What Trailers do you prefer? Thanks for the help!

Keep contact with bottom at first. you may find that the will eat it hopping or stroking in subsequent trips. I throw this when I know there are fish on a point/deep structure usually rotating through a crankbait, big worm, and crig. FB jig is one of the most productive for me. but Ive fished on fork when they wouldnt eat a fb jig but they would a crig or the other way around.

Paca Craw is a good choice. I use a boot tail swimbait some too.

I throw them when the fish are relating to deep structure. I will throw both in the same area the jig and the C-rig to see which is more productive.

I throw them all the time deep or shallow. Find you some fish then only take you a jig rod leave everything else at home and throw that sucker all day is what I did until I got confidense in it.

paca craw... I've caught fish on them when a crig would catch little fish you could upgrade size on the jig. I'm big on dragging it instead of typical hop of a jig

Good info! I still have yet to catch a fish on it, but I usually go back to fishing a c-rig (more confidence). I guess I'll have to start leaving the C-rig at the house lol. Would Dragging it feel more like a C-rig bite?

Dragging it is the best way to fish it. Set the hook the same as the Crig also. Reel to fish and a long sweeping hookset is best. Also if its on a long line or super deep , i reset the hook after i get a few cranks in, this reinforces the fact you put a good hook set on them. Seen way too many fish get to the boat and jump off because they were barely hooked. Keep with it and keep 5ALIVE!!
