Is anyone running Garmin on their boats? If so how do you like it? What are your likes/dislikes?

Been doing a little reading on them and they seem to be pretty effective graphs.

Todd Driscoll made the switch. Garmin is in the hunt now. I'm
Just not familiar with them yet.

I heard that and watched a few videos of him speaking about them. Just wanted to get the full story on them before considering them! laugh

I will be on my next boat. I've got one of those white elephant spotlight scan transducers !! Which I knocked off on a stump in a BFL on the Red a few weeks back. its taped on with electrical tape. Called Lowrance to see if they could replace the plastic around the transducer. I got some guy that could barely speak English that told me they have a sale on spotlight transducers regular 499 and on sale were 599 or something to that effect. I may be embellishing a little but not far off. Electrical tape will have to work for now.

I talked to Todd the other day he is impressed with Garmin. he said it just a matter of time, they are going to make a splash in the market place.

Thanks, Billy

I have had no issues calling garmin, have had to call 3 times so far because I'm not very up to date on electronics. They were very helpful every time. I will be ordering a second unit in a few weeks to install on the front deck.

Take this for what it is worth, but I was looking at them at the BPS in Grapevine yesterday and the guy behind the counter said they were now their #2 seller behind Lowrance. I asked him to repeat and he said they were now selling more Garmin than Hummingbird.

I made the switch this year from bird 998c to a pair of garmin 70s with gcv 10 (garmin's version of the lss box.) I love them so far! I don't have any pictures but they are excellent!

Been using their lower priced units for the last few years and have been really impressed. I currently have the 53dv and the 43dv on my Triton and the 301dv on my Coleman Crawdad. I am very electronically challenged and these units are so easy to use. Fished with a guy the other day that has two 93sv's and was blown away. Wow!

The new Garmin equipment now is light years ahead of what they were selling when I bought a small unit in the 90's. Garmin new technology has forced Lowrance and Humminbird to step up their game, take a look at the video's of the Garmin panoptics I am very impressed with the (real time) imaging that it provides.

they have a game changer coming out shortly! Scott Martin is already using the prototype on his boat, helped him get a Top 20 easily finding brush piles. it is some type of forward 3D imaging on your trolling motor, you can basically scan out in front of you 180 degrees seeing details of brush piles, how far, see fish on them, and then watch your bait go down to them. Not sure what they're calling it.

I have a 93sv and 73dv. I'm happy with both units. Didn't take long to figure out how to navigate the software. For the price I think they are a very good deal.

Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it. I'm going to look into them and see about getting them. Are most of you running the SV on the console and DV on trolling motor!?

Really appreciate competition. I hope all of the graph/gps manufacturers take notice.
