Hit one of my Las Colinas honey holes for big sunfish and decent bass, and frankly, when I got there was sorta disappointed. Water was chocolate milk color, and this is usually a crystal clear pond with a lot of hydrilla. Makes for big sunfish and even bigger bass.

But I was there, so why not wet a line. Well sir, between 2 pm and 3:30, I caught probably fifty or so longear sunfish, green sunfish, hybrid greenies, black basss, two of them pretty decent, and even a bullhead! All on red/chartreuse tube jigs with an UNPAINTED jig head. Kept 20 or so nice greens and hybrid greenies, and two respectable black bass. Not bad for an hour and a half of fishing.

The greenies were bedding and the bass apparently looking for easy meals of either the greenies or the eggs.

Good times!

Rudy

Wow very nice catch! Were you casting and retrieving the jigs or fishing them under a float?

Nice catch, looks like a nice dinner for sure. And if you're going to eat bass, that's the perfect size to eat. smile

They were legal, tape measured em before they went on the stringer.
Believe it or not, I gave the whole batch away to a Bachman Lake fishing buddy of mine. He and his family assured me they were going to enjoy the meal! I can always run get some more. Pond's full of em

Wadefishing, just cast and retrieve. slow, but steady. Even though i could not see the hydrilla, i snagged it enough times when i let jig sink just a tad too deep. Also some big rocks or concrete slabs on bottom that also have quite a collection of my jigs dangling off of them.

Lovfldx, thanks for the info! I'm going to give that a try at the pond near me.
