Coon eye nation, how about all these full lakes?! Cedar Creek is as full as Ive ever seen it, and the fish seem to be enjoying having a few new places to hide. The pattern hasnt changed much since the last time I gave my scouting report, but Ill fill you in on what worked for us last week.

Bridges, boat docks and brush piles are all producing fish right now. Im determining where to fish based on wind and the skill level of the fishermen I take out. If my clients want a challenge, or just looking to learn something new, I take them dock shooting. This is also a great way to stay out of the wind.

Brush piles and bridges are more enjoyable for a lot of people, so Im doing what I can to put people on fish. With the muddy water, Ive had to get creative with some of my tactics. Baits with action seem to do well in the muddier parts of the lake, so does darker colors. Ive been fishing brush from 6-18ft.

The best piece of advice I can give you right now is to be aggressive. Get the fish that are biting in an area, then leave. Im leaving any dock, bridge column or brush pile if I go without getting bit for two to three minutes. Just in case it doesnt work out, the hybrid striper and white bass bite is absolutely phenomenal right now, but that is a story for a different time and place.

Here is the gear were using right now:

Rod and reel: 5.5ft Ugly Stiks with Shimmano Sierra reels
Line: Wally Marshall 6lb hi-vis monofilament
Jigs: Thump Buddies and Thump Chubbies for docks, Thump Jumpers for brush piles and bridges.
Jig Heads: For dock shooting, it is essential to use a light jig head. Were using 1/16 ounce heads with #4 bronze sickle hooks. For bridges and brush piles, were using 1/8 ounce heads with #4 bronze sickle hooks.
All jigs and jig heads provided by www.constantpursuitoutfitters.com

Pictures from the last few days:

We fished bridges and brush piles on this trip. Had a good time with some family friends and long time customers.

Mr Mettile and Mr Burgan on a gray Wednesday morning. Mr Burgan is a Marine Corps Veteran who fought in the Pacific, and is also portrayed in the HBO series 'The Pacific.' It was an absolute privilege to fish with the definition of a hero. If you want an idea of what Mr Burgan went through, check out his book "Islands of the Damned."

Saul and his son came out for some brush pile fishing and dock shooting. I had a ball shooting for this young man, then handing off the rod and telling him when to set the hook. Talk about a natural born fishermen!

These guys wanted to learn something new, so we hit the docks. The shooting proved to be a challenge, but the spirits remained high and we were proud of what we accomplished.

Just to give you an idea of what we're using right now.
