Was out there Sat. Lake is full and going over the spillway. Water was pretty clear. I struggled figuring out a pattern. Caught a few largemouth. I've caught one walleye out there and have yet to hook a Smallie

The lake was cloudy on the north side near the inlet as long as they were letting water in, but it has cleared up very nicely in most places. The issue now is with the lake about a foot over full pool, from pumping in water from the Paluxy and rain/run-off, it feels like the fish are widely distributed.
We'll be out Saturday, weather permitting, two of us in a Meyers Sportspal fishing canoe.
If you are interested in walleye and SMB, I think they are generally caught over near the dam though I have never caught either.
I hope the fish settle down and get back to normal patterns.

thanks for the reports; i hope to be out there at some point this weekend, weather permitting. i grew up fishing for walleye and smallies on the great lakes and other smaller lakes in western N.Y. and am thrilled at the possibility of catching some here in tx

I was there last Sat. They were not pumping water in. Lake was mostly clear. Fishing was tough. Caught 2 and had a few additional bites. No SMB or Walleye to be had. I plan to be out there this Saturday as well.

Brad,
I'll be out in my Meyers Sportspal canoe again Saturday with a friend riding in the bow seat. I think it might be worth rigging up something for a bit deeper water presentation so I am thinking about a drop shot rig with a hook up about 30" or so off the bottom. I thought I'd drop it over in a few areas near the dam, I just need to see if I can set up on the outside of a vegetation line over near the dam. If so, I think that rig might catch some bass.
And, David Gunter, one of the employees at the guard house, mentioned several weeks ago that while they were still bringing water in via the inlet that they were catching bass on crankbaits. So, two guys putting in on that day went over there and had immediate luck with that; I went the other way toward the dam. Anyway, my point is some of those lures you like to throw may be the answer if the fish have moved a bit deeper.
Plastic worms have been slow from the bank the last two times I have been out there. I'll be back in the canoe this time! Way more fun!
