When applying the break coming to a stop the front end of the truck shakes. Is that alignment or tires out of balance?
Thanks,

Likely warped rottors.
A relatively cheap and easy fix. What vehicle?

Have you ever had the brakes done?
If your a do it yourselfer it is pretty easy to do a brake job on disk brakes. Pull the wheel, a few bolts should get the caliper loose then just pull off the rotor have them checked to see if they are warped if they are you can have them turned if they are thick enough or replace them.
If its not a warped rotor I would suspect worn front suspension/steering componets, idler and pitman arm and tie rods.

Replace rotors front and back. Fixed the issue on my 07. Front is a little bit of work, but the back is a piece of cake.

Im assuming in '01 they were not using hub assemblies? and you had to pull and pack bearings?

I agree with warped rotors. If you had wore out steering/front end components you would feel it without having to be braking.
