Might be the wrong spot, but I couldn't find a rod building section. I'm looking for advise on blanks. I'm needing a ridiculously stiff 8' rod. I have built a few im6 8' extra hvy but they just are not cutting it. Has anyone used tuna popping blanks or possibly musky blanks? Any help or ideas are appreciated.

I see your in lufkin. If you ever get down Houston way. You could go to fishing tackle unlimited. They have blanks there that you can actually put in your hand!

Sounds like you need a shimano jigging rod used for butterflys straight down on braid. Those rods take an extreme amount of abuse. If it can haul up a 75lb reef donkey in 125ft of water it can handle a flathead

Phenix Black Diamond or Black Diamond Hybrid series.

They come up to 4XH and rated for 200lb line, and go down from there.

Post a video of boat flipping big flatheads out of log jams!

We do it on gibbons creek under big trees. Flipping stick with braid and a slip.cork and piece of perch or shad. Nothing like setting up on a 40-50lb blue cat

Clifford it wouldn't happen to be 8' hahahaha. Have you ever built any rods on a musky rod blank?
