Well all the lakes including Texoma around here are hard to get on. You can tell by all of the boat traffic on Ben Brook yesterday. My wife and I went out for a while, got some shad and started drifting since the wind was blowing and couldn't anchor our pontoon. It takes an anchor that I can't even lift to hold it. Anyway we caught several Hybrids and big sandies until church was out then people showed up and catching was over, just fishing. When 3 boats were there and we were all catching fish. Then there were 5 then 6 and you get the idea. We just left. It was time to go eat anyway. Not mad at anyone, everyone seemed to get along. Just that many boats moving around and fish won't stay there. Water is up to top of ramp. If it comes up much further it will be hard to launch. I usually don't fish on weekend, but needed to run my boat. Not the biggest, just the first!

Yes, those fish seem to know when all the traffic moves in.

I could be wrong but it was more likely just the fish turning off after the morning hours of traditionally better fishing. 3 or 4 boats versus 5 or 6 or even many more on a 3600+ acre lake is inconsequential.
My grandfather's second-in-command at work used to love to fish and we fished for crappie on Benbrook out of his boat: tied up to some stumps, hung out a lantern, the bugs would show up, then the bait fish, then I guess the crappie liked the activity. They were very large crappie back then, in the late 1960s.
The other interesting thing about Benbrook Lake that younger folks might not recall is how very bad it flooded in the old days. You could literally fish out of the tops of 30' trees back in some of the low lying creek areas.
It was a very popular lake for a long time; glad to hear good fishing reports from it!

I usually don't fish on weekend, but needed to run my boat. Not the biggest, just the first! You need to get a couple of box anchors.

Glad to know she is looking up. Great trip I've been known to pull one or two out of old mother Benbrook my self too bad it's not a better bass lake five min to the ramp from the house. It is a good quality bass lake but hybrids steal the show. Looking good!

Answers to questions and comments: Launched at Dutch Branch Marina. Son-in-law went after work yesterday and I think it caught several fish. Not always a morning bite on BB. I was marking fish stacked on HDS 7 before boats showed up. Then they scattered out. Not complaining, just a fact. I have seen boat traffic scatter fish as deep as 40' on Texoma. Sand bass will stick around longer, but Hybrids and Stripers don't. At least that is what I have noticed. If you get a marine radio and go to Texoma, the main thing the guides will talk about is boats moving in on where they are fishing. It shuts off the bite.
