Braved the wind Sat-Mon on Lake CC with Jugslines. Caught one 18 lb yellow and a bunch of 2-5 lb blues.

Mainly caught fish off of Rocky points around the state park. Find bottom with no mud and you can find fish. Yellow came on a 4 inch bluegill in 12 feet of water.

They are installing a new floating pier at the state park where the old long pier used to be. Not extremely long but it looks like the end will be in about 10-15 feet in water. Hopefully they put good lights that attract fish.

Good to hear the cats are doing well. I grew up on the lake but haven't been back in a few years. Why did they ever take away the old pier?

the old pier was condemned. Falling apart and repairs were costing too much.

Wimpy fish- Have not had the time. Took my 20 foot CC to the lake because of the high winds.

Put an offer in on a lake house when it was 8' low a little over a month ago and looks like we'll be closing right about the time it's at full capacity. Should have at least one summer with it full...

I remember when Lake Mathis was more of a constant level lake in the 50's and 60's and all the piers where permanantly built with pilings driven into the ground.
As fast as the lake drops now you will need to put a dock on some type of floats to keep it in the water.
Congrats on the lake house! Where on the lake are you located?

I'll be in Lake City on the East side of the lake. Old, crappy house that will need some work, but a nice lot on a deep cove that holds water fairly close to the end of the pier all the way down to 12'-14' low.

Yep, I know pretty much where you are located. There is some awesome fishing in that area! I'm a little sick green with envy! grin

The boat ramp in lake city seems pretty decent. Any idea how low the lake has to get to become un-launchable? I was already thinking I'd have to run across to Webers when the state park launches went dry, but this ramp seems deeper than the state park ramps.

Went down to the boat ramp yesterday morning. Caught 2 about 13" long. It was fun. First time I have cast a line in there in quite a few years.

There were 460k LMB fingerlings stocked last year, so should be some decent fishing the next couple years assuming the level stays fairly consistant. I'd feel a lot more confident about the lake level if Choke had some water, but I'll take a full lake whenever and however I can get it.

If they would keep lake corpus up, its actually a really good lake for some big bass. JUST KEEP THE WATER IN THE LAKE
