I have a Shimano Crucial 7'9" Frog rod. I previously used a Falcon Carolina Lizard that I broke. My question is what do you use for your Frog rod. I can't seem to get the right action with hollow body frog with the Shimano rod. The action was good with the Falcon, but I like the casting distance of the Shimano. Just looking for suggestions on a better setup.

I just bought the 7' MH and it is probably the best frog rod I've ever used.

I use my custom built rods but if I was going to buy a frog rod, I would look at the Abu Garcia veritas 7'11" or possibly the h20 7'9". It claims to be on an im8 blank. I like long broom sticks for frogs.

I prefer shorter rods with a strong back bone and soft tip. Take a look at the denali rosewood frog rod.

Omen 7'3 MH or H. Great action and plenty of tip with solid backbone. Love mine

This !! You want a softer tip so you can walk the frog . Hard to do with a heavy action rod. You want enough back bone to fight the fish out of the grass . I prefer a 7' rod to place the frog in the under brush.

I use a Daiwa SVF-XBD "Braided Line Special". It's a 7'4" extra heavy rod with machined aluminum reel seat nuts. It has titanium double foot Fuji guides with SiC inserts. It is designed for 55lb-80lb braid. The rod weighs 3.9 ounces. Choose the right reel and the entire package with line will weigh in just under 10oz.

Depends on what cover you are fishing. Big difference between open water light grass and rayburn 2ft wide pads and willow trees where you cant see open water for 75 yards

Just got my Kistler Frog rod last week and was amazed at the accuracy and distance with the rod.

I too had a crucial rod I was throwing my frog on.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Thanks guys for all your input. I have another rod I use when I fish a frog in tighter cover. I want to replace the rod I use in large grass flats or big pad fields where you really have to launch the thing to get it back in there. I just don't like the action with this Shimano. I'll check out several of your suggestions.
