I drove up to Caddo Grasslands this week just to see how the roads are from here to there. I'm looking for a small lake to bass fish within 1-1/12 hours of Rockwall and these two, Crockett & Coffee Mill look promising. Thanks Buda13 & Redneck Rehab thumb

Good bass in Crockett. Fished it many times over the past 10 or so years. Lots of grass! Not as many lily pads as in past years. I've never caught a giant there. My biggest is just over 6 but lots of 2-4 pounders (and a number of 1-2 also).

It's been a couple years since I fished it but it's a great little lake with lots of grass. I fished it quite a few times after it came back up from when they drained it. Flukes, senkos, and top water frogs. That place can really boost your confidence.

Used to go up there with my dad and catch tons of channel cats with nothin but a cane pole and dip bait. Fun lake, I think I remember it having an abnormally large population of snakes though lol
