Purchasing new Tarpon, trying to decide between colors. I know Mango would be great for visibility, but that midnight (blue/black) sure is nice. Concerned black in that color mix might get a little hot in Texas sun. Anyone have this color and can comment.

I do and love it! Just got the new 2015 tarpon 120! A bright or light color would be more visible and maybe a touch cooler. But what the heck get what you like! I did. My last one was red with no problems on heat. When it gets hot I just take a dunk lol. Good luck on your new tarpon!

That midnight is my favorite Wildy color. It looks pretty sharp!

Everybody knows that yellow kayaks are the fastest.
RealBigReel I don't go too fast but I go pretty far.

I was in the same situation deciding if whether I should go for visibility or the color I like and I ended up buy a kay with the color I like. I am thinking that if I want to make myself visible I can always have a bigger signal flag....

The color really doesn't matter, just get a flag of some sort with a 360* light. When I'm going 65-70 down the lake and there is some chop on the water, the flag will be seen first. Get the color you like the best and you'll be happier later.

Normal paddling puts the blade about foot above your head and in a pinch you could wave it nearly 10 feet above the water to been seen. I honestly believe the only time a bright colored kayak is better than a more neutral colored one is if you need to be seen from the air, like a rescue situation.

Unless the lake is flat the waves hide your kayak. Bright colored clothes and a flag is what I use. I have a gator bait kayak and an olive one. Buy what you like is my opinion.

Just so it doesn't clash with your vehicle color - that would be a terrible faux pas.

Get a bright color. Believe me , it has saved me on Texoma. I can barley see the sand and the lighter colored yaks from a distance. Only way I can see someone on those colored yaks is if they wear bright clothing. I think being as visible as possible is best practice. Even when you do have bright yaks or clothing on , boaters still dont see you until they are super close and if they have been drinking, even worse.

Orange! True the waves hide you, but they go up just like they go down. I want to be seen. The fish only see a shadow. People see bright objects. I do everything I can to be seen. I also have a yellow paddle.
