Never really hunted blue cats, never been on this lake, any tips, and where to launch? No I'm not asking for locations , so save the go fish you'll find them stuff. I'm a beginner when it comes to hunting blue cats, can't fish the lakes I know cause they're all closed .

When I fish new waters, I look for similar spots to where I catch them on my home waters.

Sharp drop-offs are often a good place to find them, especially if it is near a main channel. Find schools of shad and you will likely find blues in the area. Another option is to drift through a cove until you find an area where you're getting bites, although it is easy to get hung up doing that.

Do you have a cast net? Fresh shad is the best bait you can use for blue cats, imho. Cut carp, perch also work pretty good.

OK, even if you find them do you really want to eat them? The wife says - if they don't have scales, then don't eat them; give them to your enemy! But ....... we both have eat'en many a whole cats! Southern fried!! Yummy! Damn, let me go and throw out that salad; we are going instead to Catfish Sams!

With all the water, you can launch just about anywhere

Holiday for the dam area,
Anchor inn mid lake and north side
Sky point for sun point area

We found channel cats in four feet around flooded willows this weekend

I have no Intel on blues

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

not to be too general, but with fresh shad in a south wind you can pretty much limit blues on any wind blown point. We caught 60 doing that last weekend in 5 FOW. Tomorow might be just as good depending on if the rain can hold back for a few hours. PM me if you prefer specifics, there's plenty of blues to go around in Tawok.

So your wife won't eat trout or salmon or flounder? Every girl I ever knew liked all of these fish.

beings it's time for the run here in Oklaqhoma ... the run has already taken place down texas way and the fish will be shallow and spawning or getting ready to spawn ... since there's been a lot of rain fall I'd imagine that a lot of your tawakoni blues have gone up river to spawn and they'll be up there right now ... usually the blues all leave the lake with our big tributaries and if they're able to they'll run over 100 river miles .... tawakoni tribs are a lot smaller but they'll still run up when the river is flowing this time of year and the mature fish will all have tried to run up river when flow is right and you may be hard pressed to find blues in the lake right now. if you find them at all they're going to be up in the lily pads and under cattails right now so best to rig up with really heavy line and float rigs so that you can horse them out of the lily pads ... this was how we fished ray hubbard when we came down in 08 and almost won it fishing the lily pads as it was late may when the tournament took place and all the fish were spawning.
