Today I had returning customers Davis and David on Somerville, let them know about the amount of water coming into the lake and they said were fishing no matter what. Davis was on fire this morning catching the most. Bite was on and off most of the morning. Lake came up 8" from the time we launched to the time we came in. Birch creek boat ramp is now closed. They ended up with 38 nice cats for the fish fry. All caught on CJ's crawfish in 6-8 fow under cork in flooded camp grounds and under picnic tables!!! Lol

Nice catch under unusual circumstances! When the water is rising rapidly and there is a lot of stuff floating in the water the catfish seem to leave their normal spots and spread out for the feeding bonanza and I usually can't find them under these conditions. There is so much water near the shore behind the cane walls for them to feed in and that water is difficult to fish. I remember once our campground flooded back on Lake of the Ozarks and thousands of worms came up and died. Fish were everywhere gobbling them up. Any advice on how to think when conditions are rapidly rising water?

I am headed to Somerville next week and have a camping reservation at Nails Creek. What kind of shape is that park in.

Here a couple of pic's that I took yesterday afternoon at Birch Creek....lake was almost 7 feet then and now it is almost 7.5 feet high. Overheard a conversation with the park guys and they were saying it may very well go over the spillway before the rain stops. Can't really open the gates much more due to the flooding down south....hopefully they will leave them pretty much closed.....I personally would like to see how full it would get. All the ramps may get closed but might be some good bank fishing (if you could find a place).

The lake is supposed to get to 8' and we are still receiving rain as I type this. The best advise I can give in finding fish in rising water is to keep moving spots until you find them. If no bites in 15 minutes, time to move to another spot and so on.
