 At Legends tournament and need mechanic

or some advice. Big motor 2001 EFI Mercury just give a humming noise when I try to crank it. New battery yesterday and fully charge so that is out. I have already removed the top and tapped the starter with not results. Suggestions?
There goes first light bite this morning.

take a screw driver and lift the starter drive,squirt a small amount of oil along shaft and see if it is kicking up to fly wheel.

Most likely starter sylinoid but could be several other things start with easy first wires corrode in terminal with heat shrink wraps

Check Fuse in cowling had that happen before

Make sure all the wires are connected back on the battery, I did the same thing a few yrs back. Starter would spin but not engage, had just changed the battery and had left off one the smaller wires.

this will fix your problem. You should be going by now.That is how fast the fix will take you Screw driver and some oil

Before the TFF, a guy would lose a day of fishing and some cash by taking his boat to a mechanic. Now you can find multiple guys that have had the same boat issues within minutes. Pretty cool
