Went out to Pk to see what kind of damage was done by the storms and view the lake at -5 ft.
I've only been fishing Pk since 2011 so I've never seen it this high. PK folks can sympathize with
Texoma as the power is cut to the Marina and the walkway to the ship store and courtesy dock at
the cliffs is flooded. Supposed to fix that Next week as memorial day is coming. Water down at
the dam and in neely slough is not muddy yet.

This is what we had last year

Now it looks like this at - 5 feet.

Muddy as the Mississippi up lake. Here's a shot I took from the road across the hills. Most of this was sand bars a week or so ago. They have a lake now.

Went up to the Brazos at 1287 bridge to see what was coming. It's a torrent. Evidence there that the river was out of banks as both fields on either side were flooded. Sorry for the bad pic but no place to stop on that bridge.

Rock creek now has water. Here's the view from the 533 bridge. This is normally a clear stream when
it has water, so I assume this is nasty stuff coming down from the salt fork of the Brazos that backed up into Rock creek.

I used to fish below this bridge and catch some nice LM Bass. Gonna be tough in the future with all those
flooded Mesquite trees. For sure I won't put an inflatable in there. Bass tournament guys are going to have to stop complaining about no structure on Pk. Snagging an old flooded Yucca will add some additional
difficulty in lure retrieval.

Looks like we'll have a swimming beach this year at the cliffs. Not sure how all those goat heads that grew on that exposed sand will work out. I will advise keeping flip flops on. There's also a very steep drop off that was caused by wave erosion that the BRA would not allow to be fixed.

At this point, I assume I know nothing about this lake now. it's a new deal with all this water.Lot's more on the way I'm told.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed them. I'll go out on the lake a little later and see if the fish are biting.

Great report. Thanks for the update. Hopefully the BRA won't just send this new water, down the river.

Sky Camp would be a nice place that's not too much. Their ramp will be open now.

You should also check Vacation rentals by owner. Might be some lake houses for rent.

Another thing would be to call some of the local realtors and see if anyone who is selling would be willing to rent for a weekend. In the cliffs there's a ton of properties for sale. Now that the oil boom is bust they will likely sit for a while.

Water in the lake is Muddy all the way past the peninsula and murky to the dam. I marked some nice striper schools this week on Gaines Bend surrounding balls of bait but could not get them to hit anything. I don't think the stripers can see far in this water and if they cannot see your lures they can't take them.

Fishing been tough on lower end of the lake. I've been marking large schools of fish in some of the coves at Gaines Bend but they won't hit lures. I think it will be a weird year. Might have to go on another guide trip with Randy Wood to figure out the lake in this weird year.

I am in Alaska until Friday then back to work. I think I can remember were to loot for them! I have been on a ship and three differant boats this week. Didn't have to drive not one of them!
The look on the charter boats Captain was interesting when he asked what I did back in Texas.

Have fun Randy. At least the PK water helps you unlike the Texoma guides who now have to row to their slips. PK rain just means you can launch from willow beach now.

I got reports from Kayak friend that the water is going clear by the dam, as less local flow is coming in and the murky water is going. USGS still shows more than 10X normal flow at most upstream locations with more rain headed our way. PK is now a new lake for me, an enigma I'll have to figure out.

I bet. You will be pleasantly surprised when you get back.
