What are your thoughts and opinions for the Academy brand Frogs? Academy has them on sale right now for $2.99. Are they worth it? Or should you spend the few extra dollars for another brand?

Garbage. I really like most of the H2O stuff too, but the frogs really are just crud. Spring for the SK or the Spro frogs, it's worth it.

They are okay for $3. But I would spend a little more and get a Booyah Pad Crasher or even a little more for KVD or Spro. Your not going to loose it if you are fishing it on 65# braid. And if it gets torn up from catching too many fish then you have gotten more than your money's worth.

For $2.99, they are worth it. The frog body is soft/collapses well and some of the color patterns are good. The hooks aren't the greatest and they take on some water, but I've caught plenty of big bass on the Academy H2O Xpress frogs.

IMO they dont have even close to the same action as the premium brands. Thats fine if your just dragggin it over slop, not so much in other applications.

Dont wast your money.

They are alright for the price. ive caught lots of bass on the but they get destroyed after a couple trips

spend the money and go with Spro...best in the game for a reason.

If you want to go cheap....get some Ribbit or Zoom Frogs and go with a single EWG hook rather than frog hooks.....Again...in this case it's worth the money to go with the cream......65-80lb braid and stiff rod with fast tip....

I have never had any issues with them other than the low hook up ratio but that's pretty much true with all hollow body frogs like that.

Now days I don't even use hollow body frogs. I just use soft plastic frogs like the Zoom Horney Toad, Ribbit, and the old Mister Twister Hawg Frawg. Hook up ratios are 10 times better with the soft plastic frogs.

For causal fishing, they are fine. Hooks are good size and the action can be tweaked by taking a bit off one of the skirt legs. Hard to beat that price.

They aren't worth it, I bought one and it retains too much water

The larger ones are not as good as other name brands but the small ones work really well for me especially when they want a smaller profile.

And don't let their size fool you, I catch some big fish on them.

Not many companies make a small frog like that.

I wish they had a better hook in them. I have seen some with a bit of slag on the hook tips. They bend too easily for me as well. Decent enough frog otherwise.

I like the Booyah Pad Crasher Jr. better, but I've also caught good bass on the smaller size H2O.
