Hi guys,
last year I picked up an old Daiwa 4000C (silver series?) spinning reel from a guy at the flea market. I got it cheap 'cuz it was broken, but Im looking at it again after fixing it with jb weld.
Im pretty sure this was a saltwater reel, but I'd like to rig it up for catfishing (or fishing for other big freshwater fish).
Im on a tight budget though, so Im open to suggestions on line weight and rod compatibility

I will find you, and I will catch you

update
Im looking at pairing it to an Ugly Stick 7' heavy catfishing spinning rod
still debating on line though
*note:
I fish from shore mostly, so Im not gonna go with super high strength stuff, probably 20-35lb test

Here's the finished result:
-lake and stream brand d 20lb test (for now)
-Shakespeare Ugly Stik Catfish 7' (mdm hvy ?)
-and of course, the old Daiwa 4000C reel

I have a real old Ryobi saltwater reel that looks like a close relative of your Daiwa.
Good luck!
