I love to fish, but have never targeted Gills except in marinas. If wanted to take my 4 and 5 year old daughters out on the boat, how do I target them? I live close to alot of lakes, but I think Farmersville may be a good choice. Anyone ever fish there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have never fished in your area but right now the Gills are getting pretty active. Fish close to structure such as docks, over hanging tree limbs, sunken timber, brush piles, and retainer walls. I am catching Gills in water 4 to 8 feet deep close to docks. I use a size six cricket hook with a size five shot, and six pound test line. I also use ultra light rod and reel. I use half a night crawler Texas Rigged. I fish off of the bottom. If Gills are in the area you will know pretty fast. They are a very aggressive fish. Good luck and let us know how you do. Side Note: Hopefully other anglers will put their two cents in. There are some awesome anglers who post in this section with some super advice and techniques.

Wax worms work like MAGIC!!! Get a cup or 2 from petco or petsmart...some smaller baitshops carry em as well. I like to use a smaller hook #8 with light action rod and reel(I personally use the micro series either 4'6 or 7ft'r rod, hi vis mr crappie 6# test line, #8 Aberdeen long hooks) Whether you fish shallow or deep, you still should be able to get bites! Let us know how it goes
Katchin krappie...doin surgeries(filleting)...and givin hott grease baths until krunchy and golden brown is what it's all about!!!
