Sure you can. There just may not be a detailed map. You can mark spots and return to them.

Thanks, I thought they would only work with hot maps that are already charted. I also read where you can subscribe to a company that allows you to crate your own map Thanks again.

The Global Positioning System has NOTHING to do with maps. It's satellite based. The function of the GPS is to tell you where you are. If you have a smart phone it probably has a GPS function.
