Why is Tawakoni being so stubborn to fill up? Has anyone been on there lately? Is it muddier than normal?

A little muddier than normal. Fishing has been decent, have not had the rain north of Greenville that others have had lately...

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Heard they were intentionally keeping it lower to complete bridge construction.

A false rumor. Needs to be stamped out. If in doubt contact the Sabine River Authority for the facts. The bridge workers wish the lake was full so they did not have to work so high over head to get the thing built. Its madding to watch the storms break up before they get here. If Twok had received the last couple of 3-4" rains they got in Dallas...we would be at or over normal pool.

I'm pretty sure the only way for water to come out of Tawakoni is if it goes over the spillway. Don't think there are gates they can open and close.

Correct me if I am wrong. . .

Thanks.. I knew people "in the know" would confirm one way or the other.

Haven't been out that way in a while, hows the bridge coming?

There are varying opinions about the bridge work. IMHO, I have to cross it many time a month and really think they are doing a great job. Nothing is every as fast as you would like when you are the one being inconvenienced. I can't wait to see how they are going to take down the old one. Should be as fascinating as watching the new build.

You would be correct. It has a spillway, not a gated dam. But they sure can pump a lot of water out via the municipal pump stations.

But yeah, it's a stubborn lake to fill up. Just not getting the rain in its watershed.
