Been a long time since I've seen that

They probably had to spray the gates with WD 40 to get them open

Me too. The fishing was the best I have ever had when they used to let people on the piers. I was lucky enough to be a quick drive away and fish every weekend. Met people who came as far as Houston! Anytime they had less than 3 gates open you could fish it 24/7. I fish on the other side of the dam in a boat now, but I would fish the piers in a heart beat if the @##@$#%$#%*&^!! Tarrant County Water District would let people fish it again! I cuss them everytime I pass by!

Again, not TRWD's fault. They were tired of picking up trash...

For most of the time the pier was open, there was a tackle/snack at/ picnic and rest area run independently by a guy that had leased the area at the parking lot area. He and his family did a huge bit of business and did a good job of overseeing it. They were the original owners of what is now the Fisherman's Point Marina. Can't see how Tarrant County Water District ever was in convinced enough to shut it down.
