I want to start noodling soon for the flatheads. The lake i am going to just started getting ALOT of water. How will this affect it? will most of the flatheads already be in holes within the next couple weeks? just wondering if they will be in deeper water, or if they will move into the new shallow water after all this run off.

I bet they are in the shallows with rising water. I think with the cool spring we had they will spawn a little later this year.

Flatheads can and do spawn in deeper water. We have found them in holes at the end on boat ramps at near 30 feet deep when Texoma was high. I believe they try to return to traditional or previous holes they have used before. I wouldn't expect to find any flatheads in knee deep water right now. Different story with them mean as hell little channel cats that like to bite you all over. You might well find these evil things in the rocks at 3 to 4 ft deep around mid June.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

how do you noodle a fish at 30ft? lol. Last year was my first time noodling, and i caught a 30lbr from a hole in less than knee deep water. i figured they would try to stay shallow when spawning, but not too sure. that's the only way i'll noodle them though. lol. there will be some new flooded rocks in my lake so i was wondering if they will move in there pretty soon?

Only way I ever grabbled was with scuba tanks. Even at 4 ft deep.
