Will be doing some crappie fishing in a few smaller ponds this weekend. It's been a LONG time since I've done this, last time I had good luck with beetle spins, and road runners.. Would you recommend I use these or is there something better out? Thank you.

Jigs can work well, but I like minnows for ponds myself.

If the water is clear use bright colored jigs. If not go with dark colors.
I have great luck with Kastmaster spoons in clear pond water. If they feed mainly on shad use a jig that imitates a shad. If there are no shad but only minnows use minnows and jigs. If you can't tell then use a combination of jigs and colors. I prefer the road runner with a 2" jig body like the Bobby Garland Baby Shad in 2". You can retrieve the road runner and get good action with the blade. The beetle spin is always good to use too. I would also try a Bandit crank bait also. Good luck!

Minnows would be my first and longest try. If they don't like them then try some colorful jigs that might entice them. Find a stump and put one right next to it on the bottom and slowly pull it up.

I use roadrunners on my place. Some days are awesome some day they are just not hungry. Most of the time they like a fast retrieve to chase down.
