I'm headed down to Port Lavaca this weekend. Is this a good or bad time with all this rain and fresh water entering the bay?

Interested in the same question. My thinking is that it's not a great time with all the rain. I understand that trout are picky about salinity but that redfish are more tolerant of swings in the salt content.

Either way, I don't pass up a chance to fish so I'll be on Copano/Aransas this weekend.

Big surges of fresh water will absolutely concentrate the fish, it might not be as convenient, but when you find clear (salty) water, you're chances of success are high.

You can concentrate on the areas that are isolated from run off. Or the shortest distance to gulf tides. The back lakes have been very good past few weeks but that's not a trip from lavaca.

What do you think about the surf right now? Will it be more/less productive than the bays? I plan on being along the surf of McFaddin beach this weekend.
