Not speaking for Jim, but probably due to the amount of water that has recently been added to Athens, and continues to flow in. It's NOT real safe right now at our club lake, which feeds Lake Athens. Athens Fish & Game feeds Lake Athens. Our dam at AF&G is breached and could rupture. If so? Lake Athens and everyone around it isn't safe.
Granted you are in a boat....but you get the general idea.....I'm guessing that's partially the reason for the cancellation.

Thanks Gary. That is exactly right. Water is very high. Lake patrol said that it could be a couple days before the ramps reopen.
