I agree with the above post that says go back to the fundamentals. If I'm having a bad day, in hindsight I realize that I was doing things might have compounded the situation, like a vicious circle. I tend to start fishing more desperately; either fishing too fast or switching baits too frequently, or using baits I don't have confidence in, and ultimately end up frustrated. I also have a tendency when I get frustrated to not throw as much, or spend too much time motoring from one spot to the next instead of working each area thoroughly, so I have to be conscious to make sure I keep my bait wet. I've also found luck stabbing my anchor pole down in a spot with some cover and working each bit of cover in the area multiple times and working my way down the bank slowly instead of running and gunning. I would also say stay fixed on your confidence techniques and lures, try to stay focused, and maybe even stop chasing lunkers; downsize your bait or try a slower finesse presentation and just get bit.

If I could find someone to fund me, I would love to experiment with this approach and see if it ups my game.
I would also require a personal chef to meet me on the lake each day at noon with a portable gas kitchen to prepare grilled ribeye, sauteed mushrooms, asparagus, and Bearnaise sauce to help fuel me for the remainder of the day.

1) You need a new boat. You must spend a minimum of $50k. Rig it with big screen HD sonars (3 minimum) and a remote controlled TM.
2) Have said boat wrapped.
3) You'll need a new truck. Must be super cab 4x4 with 6" lift.
4) Have said truck wrapped.
5) You'll need to go buy some $75 shirts with sponsor logos (even though you aren't sponsored).
6) Buy several new rod n reels. Each should be a minimum of $300.
7) Buy 12 of every bait mentioned in every pro fishing report.
8) Every minute of daylight on the weekend should be spent chunkin and windin. At night, re-spool all rods with highest $ line you can find. You can sleep at work on Monday.

That oughtta do it. Good luck!

Yep for sure and right now I'd be in the new water wearing a 3/8 oz white double willow leaf spinner bait out right now, with maybe a trailer and a touch of chartreuse. If its muddy a little more chartreuse....the more junk you can drag it through the better......cooking along with the trolling motor at a moderate to fast clip, chunkin' and windin'......

Tie on a frog and head to Kurth. Only bait you will need all day long.

Yes this and what ever you do don't walk away from it to the point you sell your rig. I made that mistake back in 2000 and I'm still paying the price, I sold my rig so my wife could get another degree. I've also found I'm not all by my lonesome in that category. I've talked to others that have done the same thing and have regretted it as well.... I can't stress enough PLEEEAASE hang on to your rig!

I resort to golf for a couple weeks. when I realize just how frustrating that is, it makes getting back on the lake look a lot better.

Back in the late 90's I lost a good number of my tournament fishing buddies to "pasture pool" and the rest sold their rigs and bought Harleys. They left me kind of feeling like an outsider so it really didn't hurt near as much giving up my rig when I did.......I knew I wasn't finished with the sport though and still wish I hadn't sold out. I could have made new friends.............

at least you're not like my fishing partner......if he gets skunked.....he'll swear off fishing..."I'm gonna quit fishing for the rest of the year and concentrate of working on the house".....the next weekend....."where we going fishing?"...getting skunked happens to EVERYONE.....just part of fishing....keep at it....
