looking for a little clarification for kayakers. LAKE ATHENS PUBLIC BOAT RAMP IS NOW CLOSED! Due to excessive debris, high water and for the safety of all, AMWA has closed the public boat ramp on Lake Athens. PLEASE NOTE - PROPERTY OWNERS, IF YOU GET ON THE LAKE....THE ENTIRE LAKE, AS OF RIGHT NOW, IS A NO WAKE ZONE! There is damage on the lake and we do not wish to incur further damage. I would contact the AMWA as they are the regulatory agency for the lake.

I was there on Saturday and it was definitely full but I saw no debris and the creek "under the bridge" was a little stained but not as bad as most lakes I've seen this spring... bite was pretty slow though

just got an update: Henderson County has issued a voluntary evacuation for Lake Athens residents. There has been a small breach in the dam

The breach is in the Athens Fish and Game Club Lake dam just above FM317. It flows in to Lake Athens. Actually, FM317 runs across the dam.

since locals can boat there, i would assume kayaks are allowed. as long as you motor yakkers keep to the no wake restriction.
