Any feedback on live well treatments for the approaching hot summer months. How about adding ice to your live wells! Which treatments work best for you?

I use 2 frozen 2 liters and a scoop of Also if you catch them deep keep a syringe in the boat so you can depressurize their air bladder. Caught an 8.5 last year in 22ft of water and she ended up dying because I didn't have a syringe or needle. I keep one in the glove box at all times now.

Frozen bottles of water or Zip lock bags freeze water inside. Never pore ice in water.

Side note, we had a tournament on Lake Bonham last year and the Game Warden lit into us about ice in the water. Said the chlorine was bad for the fish? I like the frozen bottle idea.

Precisely why you need to freeze it inside something such as a bottle or ziplock Ice works perfectly fine as long as you use a quality treatment like catch and release. You can also freeze lake water in water bottles and add treatment before freezing. Peroxide is another good additive and there are plenty of vids/ articles explaining it. The best source obviously is a pure oxygen system combined with ice to lower water temp and an additive.

catch and release is the best all around. please release me is better for wounded or bleeding fish. ice cools the water which allows more saturated dissolved oxygen. hydrogen peroxide is used to create instant dissolved oxygen in the water, h20 vs h202. some of the others on the market are a scam and actually have irritants in the product to make the fish look alive when really they are wanting to escape. catch and release has an ingredient that calms the fish down so they remain still not damaging their slimecoat or loosing weight due to fluid loss. remember in the summer the water is much cooler 10 feet down so treat your livewell the same, never fill it near marinas and or shallow water.

and for the chlorine and frozen bottles, catch and release instantly removes it and other harmful chemicals and for the oxygenator believers, , you can use it to. the myth that you cant is a sales pitch for their own inferior product that really only does one thing instead of many.

Quick question on the frozen water bottles, is there any potential issue if they lower the water temp too much for what the fish are in at that point? Never have done it and luckily I guess I have had no problems, just curious.

Never have done it and luckily I guess I have had no problems, just curious. no, its not like guppies in an aquarium. the biomass of a bass is much larger so they can handle temp changes easier. ive introduced huge bass into a display with a 30 degree change in 30 mins. the goal is to cool the water so it can hold oxygen better.

U2 Pro formula..aka G juice is what I prefer. I like the results of catch and release but it doesn't jive with oxygenators (clogs them up) and its a granule and never fully dissolves.
I owned/ran a live release trailer for several years. We tested them all and had the very best results with U2. The fish actually seem to be in better shape than when they were brought in.
