I was finally able to catch a few nice fish at JP lake. The biggest on was 6.7lbs - I included an 8# bass that I caught at Lake Fork last week just for grins

Nice catch man. Is that the bridge by Lynn Creek marina? I can never seem to find any good bass out there. I know there are some good ones out there cause last Sunday a buddy of mine caught a 9 lb 10 oz out there over by the state park side of the lake. I just can't seem to have any luck out there myself.

Curious about this too. I've fished up and down those slips at the marina there and around that side as well and never have much luck. Everyone tells me there are tons of fish around that area I just, like you, can't seem to find them. hah

I don't blur my pics out lol... I didn't catch them right where I took the pictures, another buddy of mine and his son where fishing out there, so I stuck these fish in the live well for a few mins until they could meet me over there. We found a place to get out of the wind to take a few pictures, the wind was brutal Saturday out there. In fact his son took the pictures and he got on the walkway near the marina to take the pictures, I let the fish go there but that's not exactly where I caught them.

It has taken me over a year to catch decent fish at JP lake, I have studied maps, talked to anyone and everyone, tried different areas, different techniques, etc. I don't care what anyone else says, this lake is way tougher than lake fork to me. But I am intrigued by the lake because I know some guys that catch DD fish out there, maybe one day I will too.

The best advice I can give anyone is to think outside the box, my buddy told me to try this particular spot or I would not have even thought about it.

Good luck guys, I know there are some big fish out on that lake, but they are hard as hell to figure out...

Yes sir. JP is tough. I fish that lake almost everyday. Sometimes its a struggle just to get bit. Sometimes it's a slugfest!

I'm another Joe Pool struggler! I moved to the area recently and have decided that Joe Pool is the lake I was going to focus on and I have to say its been pretty frustrating at times. I moved from 30 years of Spot fishing in Georgia so it has been a bit of a transition to get back to LM fishing but still.. I have had a hard time consistently catching keeper fish. Beating the bank will get you dinks, but I would rather catch quality fish. Good job Slade on those nice fish!

The grass is the key. I found some good grass the other day and it made all the difference IMO

I vote for just thick enough that the jet skiers and pontoon boat drivers don't complain...
