I had some trading to do in grand saline yesterday morning and figured I'd take the boat with me and hit fork. My buddy had told me about stubbys bait and says its the best ever, so I called him Thursday night. All I've ever used is danny kings and wanted to try stubbys. So after meeting up with stubby I hit fork. As soon as I got on the water at 10am, my phone started hitting me with severe weather alerts and after checking the radar, I figured I should leave around 2pm to give me plenty of time to get the boat home in the barn before the storms. Driving over the 17 bridge on the way I saw some flooded willows and figured that would be a good place to start. Turns out that was the only place I fished. Ended up with 10 good fish, no monsters but I did fill a quart ziploc 3/4's full. And that stubbys bait seemed to really call them up. I caught probably 16 and missed another 10 bites as I was fishing under a slip bobber with 6lb test on small spinning reels I use for crappie fishing. All in all for 4 hours of fun it was worth it. And stubby has a new customer for sure. That stuff is so much easier to deal with than punch bait.

Here's the ten

The biggest-maybe 2, 2-1/2lbs.

Hard to beat a good mess of channel cat. Perfect size for the fryer too.

Stubby's bait still has some critics, but they haven't tried it yet either. It's all I use for channels now.

TxMedic is dead on. Those who don't use it have just never tried it. One time and that is all it takes.

Lol. Anyone who has met Stubby is no critic. I cannot imagine a channel cat that would not bite Stubbys bait either.

All I use is big Marv's... Good stuff don't get me wrong and I've caught lots of blues with it too.. But I'd try something easier to work with and still catches fish.

Edit:

The filets filled up 3/4 of a gallon ziploc, not a quart. That would be about 1-1/2 fish. Lol.
